SOVOL SH03 Filament Dryer Review: Quiet Four-Spool Drying
Four-spool capacity, two independently controlled chambers and reliable direct-to-printer feeding – with much quieter operation than the two-spool SOVOL dryer in my setup.
The SOVOL SH03 does exactly what I wanted: it handles four spools in two separate chambers, feeds filament directly into my 3D printer and runs quietly without the unpleasant high-frequency sound I noticed from the two-spool SH02. The price is very good, and I have not found a practical drawback in my use.
I use the SH03 as part of my own 3D-printing setup, with filament routed straight from the dryer to the printer. That makes this more than a box I only switch on before printing: it works as a practical part of the everyday filament path.
The defining feature is the split layout. Its two chambers can be controlled separately, so I can run different filament in each side at the same time rather than forcing all four rolls into one shared program.
Two chambers make the difference
The separate chambers are the biggest advantage over a conventional dual-spool dryer. Each side can run with its own settings, which is useful when two filament types need different drying temperatures or times.
Four-spool capacity also means fewer interruptions when I want several colours or materials ready. The two lids open independently, so accessing one side does not require opening the other chamber.
Direct-to-printer feeding
I feed filament directly from the SH03 into my 3D printer, and this works extremely well in practice. The filament remains enclosed on its route out of the dryer, while the spool can keep turning freely during a print.
That setup is particularly useful for moisture-sensitive filament or longer jobs where I do not want a dried spool sitting exposed beside the printer.

What could be better
I have honestly not found a practical downside in my use. The SH03 has done exactly what I bought it to do.
Quiet operation compared with the SH02
Noise is where the SH03 surprised me most. Compared with the two-spool SOVOL SH02 I tested, I find this four-spool model very quiet and free from the unpleasant high-frequency tone that bothered me with the smaller dryer.
This is my comparison from real use in the same kind of environment, rather than a laboratory sound measurement. For a home office or a printer near your desk, the quieter character is a meaningful advantage.

SOVOL lists dual independent heating chambers, two 200W PTC heaters, a 45°C to 85°C working range, automatic dehumidification and presets for ten common filament types. Who is it for?
The SOVOL SH03 is a strong fit for 3D-printing hobbyists and small workshops that use several filaments, print directly from a dryer or want separate drying programs running side by side.
If you only ever use one spool at a time, a smaller dryer may take up less space. For my four-spool workflow, however, the SH03 gives me the capacity and flexibility I need without adding an annoying operating sound.
My verdict
The SH03 is the better SOVOL dryer for my setup. Its two independent chambers work well with different filament, feeding directly to the printer is reliable, operation is pleasantly quiet and the price is very competitive. I have not found a real-world negative so far: it simply does what it is supposed to do.
